Top work sir!

But.... I have to admit to being pretty confused as to the current state
of the Community Squeeze Project and I know I'm not alone....

Is it possible for someone to provide a quick recap without things
getting too complicated?

>From my point of view, the F20 CSOS image was just around the corner,
which would have meant that the eagerly awaited CSP1 DAC project could
kick off as well as providing I2S output capability to those of us who
are are prepared to get 'hacky' and DIY a solution via some precise
surface mount soldering. Just before this F20 release, I learn that
scope of the project is also to include support for a load of other
hardware and therefore a lot of extra work, the lead developer has quit,
yet seemingly still continues to work on updates.

I've invested in a few Wandboards as my hardware of choice on the
strength of this project, the potential of I2S output and the CSP1 addon
and I'm sure others have too, but currently I don't understand whether
the F20 image is a couple of days off or not likely to ever surface...

I apologise if this comes across a bit ranty, and Clive, I'm certainly
not having a go at you. I just can't work out if the core of this
project solely rested on your shoulders and is unlikely to get picked
up, or if it's all in hand with others working on stuff in the
background and maybe it's just not being communicated here? Certainly
having this single thread in someone else's forum makes it very
difficult to package this much information, make it accessible to
newcomers and run a project.

Compared to for example, Volumio and Rune Audio which have a similar
kind of offering, CSOS is currently not comparing well..
For example, who's responsible for the http://www.communitysqueeze.org/
website and what's the reason you can't currently download the CSOS
images from there?

Again, I'm sorry if this seems a bit aggressive, and I fully appreciate
that this info might be within this thread somewhere and I've missed
it... but I just feel like something's missing here and it'd be a real
shame if a project this good didn't flourish...
If there's a lack of expertise for working on the project, where's the
request for help?
If the project needs a new project leader (does it?), where's the
request for someone to take the reigns?
If people are tired of putting in hours and hours for free, where's the
request for donations?
If the aim is to provide a great solution for as many people as possible
to enjoy, where's the website updates/blog/support&development forum and
links where people can actually download images from?

cheers,
James
