I have tried the version from the OP - I will try alternatives tomorrow,
as squeezelite seems to have a few problems of its own (haven't looked
into them, as I am currently still setting up my workstation with a
fresh Xubuntu 14.04LTS (amd64) and all the software I need for working,
plus configuring the Desktop etc.)

Anyway, thanks so far. I'll have a few things to try now - like using
wine or some of the alternative versions you mentioned.
