What's the intention behind the custom kernel feature? I don't see any
possibilities to customize anything!??!

As far as I can see just two patches will be applied and then the base
kernel is taken. 

I don't have any option to customize anything, e.g. adding my own
stripped down .config or adding my 300Hz.patch
I'd love to add the much newer kernel sources I refered to earlier as
well.

Obviously all this will be difficult to accomplish via SOA web
interface.

Ok. The only way I see is: Once started, I could wait until the
downloads are done, I could kill the makepkg process, edit the PKGBUILD,
add my files and start manually makekpg over again.

I think the process should be changed. Perhaps offering precompiled
kernels could be an option.

Beside that compilation time with those fully configured kernels takes
ages on these arm boards. (I usually crosscompile kernels for RPI and
CT)
And not to forget. It is not recommended to run this on the SD cards!!!
If possible such a process should be transferred to an attached HDD
