1. Have you selected the USB DAC as primary device? 2. Checkout Alsamixer. I've seen many DACs initially being muted.
Note: 3. I find it much less confusing and more convenient to use Alsa standard device terminology: hw:X,0 or plughw:X,0 Beside that my proposal to Triode was to nail a USB DAC to a specific index number X e.g. 3 Unfortunately squeezelite doesn't show these very basic Alsa devices and related IDs.
