Since nobody until now signalled this kind of behaviour I think it's safe to say that it's the TV being on from the beginning of the flashing process (boot of the basic image) that somehow causes the Arch build process to include a screensaver ... The reason I did this is that my previous attempts at installing always got confused in the IP address, which made it a bother to follow up on the progress through Putty :p
