You could try to install the alsa-utils package "pacman -S alsa-utils".


Triode has taken it out. There are DACs that require initial setup with
alsamixer and others don't and others seem to have problems with
alsa-utils. A catch-22.  

You'll also get aplay installed with alsa-utils.
