One final observation:

Using the alsamixer volume control, if LMS requests volume to be set to
0 from 100%, squeezelite does nothing. If LMS then requests a slight
increase in volume, THEN squeezelite sets the volume to 0. I.e. click
the left-most volume bar on the LMS WebUI volume control: squeezelite
does nothing. Click the decrease volume button on the WebUI:
squeezelite still does nothing. Click the increase volume button on the
WebUI, squeezelite sets the volume to 0.

Code:
--------------------

  [14:09:11.720299] set_volume:211 setting vol raw [0-50]
  [14:09:11.720396] set_volume:237 PCM left: -infdB -> 50 right: -infdB -> 50
  [14:09:11.721457] set_volume:211 setting vol raw [0-50]
  [14:09:11.721530] set_volume:237 PCM left: -infdB -> 50 right: -infdB -> 50
  [14:09:22.367985] set_volume:211 setting vol raw [0-50]
  [14:09:22.368066] set_volume:237 PCM left: -infdB -> 50 right: -infdB -> 50
  [14:09:24.215967] set_volume:211 setting vol raw [0-50]
  [14:09:24.220687] set_volume:237 PCM left: -71.2dB -> 0 right: -71.2dB -> 0
  [14:09:24.221085] set_volume:211 setting vol raw [0-50]
  [14:09:24.221134] set_volume:237 PCM left: -71.2dB -> 0 right: -71.2dB -> 0
