In the hope that Google will do it's magic and bring this to the attention of anyone unlucky enough to face the same confusion as me today, I'm posting some stuff here!
I installed the Local Player Plugin as part of the testing for the BBC iPlayer patches to handle HLS. I thought no more about it! Today I was getting a few weird noises coming from my speakers that sounded like a radio channel for a fraction of a second. When I looked in audio mixer I saw this player "Name Not Available". A Google search showed nbothing but horror stories about vicious malware infections! (https://www.google.co.uk/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=audio%20mixer%20name%20not%20available). I felt sure I was not infected but felt the need to check in any case. A run through Kaspersky, MalwareBytes etc. found nothing. Then it occured to me SQUEEZELITE. Yep, WHEN INSTALLED AS THE LOCAL PLAYER PLUGIN it shows up in Audio Mixer as "Name Not Available"! I was really surprised that even a focused search for "squeezelite/box" and "name not available" finds nothing. Maybe this post might just save someone hours of heartache, convinced their system is infested with nasties! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Davidg1's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=35004 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97046 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
