Just to tie this up, I substituted ".*jpg" for "*.jpg" and now I can scan with no problem. And LMS is starting to pick up images in the folders that aren't named "cover" or "folder". I have NFS and CIFS enabled on the share, which is mounted as NFS under SOA. So far no odd behavior to report, even though I've been re-tagging files via Windows with CIFS and re-scanning with LMS on the SOA Wandboard.
