To be safe, it's probably a good idea to make a copy of your current SDcard first. I only have SOA on an RPI and don't usually run LMS on it. But all you do is hit the "update" button on the update page. That updates everything. If you see a meesaage about unable to access github.com, then you might have to re-do the update to get the latest LMS, assuming you choose to install 7.9. Otherwise, as the "help" says: "Squeeze Server 7.8 - stable version of Logitech media server 7.8" - so no updates there.
