After some research I could get Midori starting-up at boot time with my
desired webpage loading. It seems though as if Midori can't cope with
that specific webpage (lots of Javascript). 
It ends up more than crappily rendered and none of the hyperlinks would
work. A test-installation of Midori in a Windows environment brought up
the same results...
Conclusion: Midori won't work for me.

As much as I could read from Bela's postings over in the picore-Thread
at TC-forums chromium/webkit browsers are no option either at the
moment. Too many dependencies and build problems.
Did someone compile a (fairly "modern") web browser package for
PiCoreplayer yet?
