Thank you but I prefer this (old) executable to a headless player.

Finally found the problem. The provided .deb package was not setting the
sticky bit on the jive_alsa executable. (unlike my other 32bit
installation).
So when main app was launched with a non-root user, jive_alsa was not
permitted to access alsa libraries.

To solve the problem :

sudo chmod u=rwxs jive_alsa

Before :
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root  45K nov.  13  2013 jive_alsa

After :
-rwsr-xr-x 1 root root  45K nov.  13  2013 jive_alsa

And It works!
