Hi Nick, i dont know how to start :o "maybe" its the usage of cat for the gpio "maybe" its the connection between your rpi and your lms server "maybe" its the usage of the sh script "for sure" its something other beyond my knowledge;) it seems you are using the picoreimage? (user tc) even that distri is beyond my knowledge. Are you running some scripts one for the volume and another for start stop? or all in one?? I really have no clue but i am using some similar things to manipulate my rpis. But i do that with python and instead of asking the gpios i am using a "old" mouse to control the player. TbH increasing the volume from 10 to 100 with the mousewheel is a "bit" painful but you have to dy one or another way.
