Plenty of very high-end audiophile products use Tubes through out or as input stages for a solid state back end, etc. Rogue Audio make very well regarded products that feature tube buffers as input to a solid state design.
Tubes are often thought to be more mellifluous due to their emphasis of even harmonics which some would call a warmer sound. Some would like this sound to tame the sterile nature of digital. I'm not promoting either view. I have built both solid state and tube based amps and each have their positives. Many audiophiles use tubes to amplify 192k/24b DACs all the time. Look at Conrad Johnson, Audio Research, BAT, etc. -CB ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ctbarker32's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2816 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105018 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
