I do not think that is the problem, it did not work for me either.

I copied a modified squeezelite command string  into the "user command
#1" and hit save, the command dissappeared from the text box.

My "Normal" command string was /mnt/mmcblk0p2/tce/squeezelite-armv6hf -n
"Bedroom1" -o hw:CARD=sndrpihifiberry -a 80:4:: -m B8:27:EB:88:80:A9 -v
-G 13:H &

My "Modified" was /mnt/mmcblk0p2/tce/squeezelite-armv6hf -n "Bedroom1A"
-o hw:CARD=alsa -a 80:4:: -m B8:27:EB:88:80:A8 -v &
