All the music is stored on the Windows Home Server share. I was hoping
to store the playlists on the WHS too. I see the challenge of trying to
get the pi to write to Windows.

According to the folder properties in Windows, the owner is System (this
folder is one of the shared folders set up by Windows Home Server) and
the user I set up the mount point with has Modify, Read & execute, List
folder contents, Read, and Write permissions.

Your suggestion to try a usb stick is a good one. Can you suggest an app
to format a USB stick into ext4 from Windows?
