Make sure you setuid root the jive_alsa binary. sudo chmod u+s /opt/squeezeplay/bin/jive_alsa
By default squeezeplay will use pulseaudio through the ALSA interface. If you have problems getting this to work in Settings->Advanced->Logging, set audio.output to DEBUG Quit squeezeplay and restart using /opt/squeezeplay/bin/squeezeplay.sh from a terminal window. The following warnings/errors can be ignored as they are caused by the ALSA <-> PulseAudio PCM I/O Plugin. ERROR _pcm_open:718 Access type not available: Invalid argument WARN pcm_open:835 PCM Open with mmap failed trying to continue,Invalid argument ERROR pcm_close:604 snd_pcm_drain error: Input/output error ERROR audio_thread_execute:1056 snd_pcm_start error: File descriptor in bad state Also, if you want your screensaver to start, uncomment export SDL_VIDEO_ALLOW_SCREENSAVER=1 in the script.
