Is there an advantage to run LMS via PCP over running it in the Synology NAS?
That's not an easy question, because it depends on a lot of details. Starting with the NAS model: some are simply under-powered to run LMS. CPU, memory, what other services are running.
Biggest advantage: with pCP you have your Pi do one thing. It's all about Squeezebox. No conflicts with other software running on the system. No fighting for resources. No waiting for compatibility issues to be fixed. And LMS always up to date.
