I picked up a USB hub that uses it's own power supply (plugged to AC, so it doesn't draw power from the Pi). I plugged in an ethernet to USB adaptor into the USB hub to see if I could SSH into the Pi Zero. No luck. I tried the same setup to my 3B+ Raspbian test unit, turned off wifi (to force ethernet only connection), and the ethernet connection came right up. I could Putty into the Pi 3B+. I ran the same test with the Raspbian SD card in the Pi Zero. Wifi worked, ethernet worked, mouse (into USB hub) worked.
So the Pi Zero seems to have NO network access.
