This started off with a curiosity about enabling "gadget" mode on the pi zero, which seems to require replacing the `dwc-otg` USB driver (which, in spite of its name, apparently no longer supports OTG mode) with the `dwc2` driver. I haven't found any sign of the `dwc2` driver in the piCorePlayer distribution. It'd be wonderful if I could build my own piCorePlayer image with changes, e.g. including that driver.
