Weird. While the pi was connected to the 2.4 ghz SSID, I used the terminal setup command to enter the 5 ghz SSID and password. I checked the pCP-WiFi Settings, and it was connected to the 5 ghz SSID, with the same IP address as the 2.4 ghz had been given.
Router device table shows a 5 ghz connection, so I'm going to call it good. Thanks, Paul, for your help.
