I have to learn more on SPI too but looking at 'this' (https://pinout.xyz/pinout/spi) the BMC 7/8 are for SPI0 and there is a full second set. It looks like a chipselect, where 2 slaves can co-exist on the same serial bus, and the SC directs which one is addressed. The 1 you have set might be the address on the SPI0.
But also I'm a bit out of my depth here. And if I am right on the chipselect, technically it could double up to 4? displays ? Perhaps the HW guru's of squeezeamp wil pass by and have some ideas on this. I just reread your older justboom tinyamp posts. How does this pirate audio 3w board compare to that amp on 5 volts ?
