Hi,
I started with PiCorePlayer recently with no previous experience of
music streaming systems. I use it with Qobuz and it's great.
With PcP solution you just need to understand the different elements:
- music server is LMS (Logitech Media Server) - which also provides
the graphical information displayed when you control the system
- music player: PcP installs squeezebox - which has no graphical user
interface. You can have many players connected to the same server.
- ways to control what is playing where. That can be an app on a Pi
with a touchscreen (PcP would install jivelite), that can be a
controller app on your mobile, or accessing the web page coming from
LMS. That web page can be accessed from any device on the same
network.
-
The great thing with PicorePlayer is that it can install and manage any
of these elements on a raspberry Pi. You choose what you want to install
or not.
The extra functionalities correspond to LMS plug-ins you can select:
- material skin for the web page (works great when you access from
mobile devices, but also from desktop computers)
- music services e.g. Tidal, Spotify, Qobuz...
- internet radio
- alarm clock etc. etc.
-
Try it. It's very neat...
