Thanks Paul, that was very helpful.

I’m a member of the “tin foil” hat brigade, so my home network is
screwed down at the firewall level - the PiCorePlayer was not allowed
external NTP (123) access hence it was not updating.

I’ve temporarily allowed external  access for now, so this has solved
the issue I was having with Paradise Radio/BBC iPlayer not
streaming(time sensitive). 

I presume you can manually set an internal NTP server IP address
somewhere (I guess the only issue may be it being overwritten by an
update).
