The only disadvantage that I see with the existing script is that the HDMI output is switched off in case that playback is paused, since apparently the power state ( variable $1) of the squeezelite player is set to 0 when playback is paused. @WadDad, are there other situations in which the screen is turned OFF while you would want to keep it ON?
