All - thanks for your help with this - it turned out to be a Synology permissions issue. I had put the user lmspicore into the users group and denied access to a number of other folders, but explicitly granted Read/Write access to the music share. Even though the users group already has Read/Write access, for some reason, it didn't like me explicitly giving this permission via the user. I removed the Read/Write user-level access, which reverted to the group-level Read/Write access, and now everything is working via CIFS.
