I've installed 6.1.0 from an image a few days old.
Just installed LMS and it installed 7.9.3. which surprised me. Tried to ssh in and use the script to update to 8.0.0 and it says 7.9.3 is the latest Looking at the upgrade script I see it basically tries http://www.squeezenetwork.com/update/?version=8.0.0 which is returning a 0. Is something up with the releases?
