OK. After more investigation:
24/192 *will* reliably play if it is the first track played after a reboot, restarting Squeezelite is not sufficient. Playing anything other than 24/192 nearly always prevents subsequent 24/192 tracks from playing. Once a 24/192 track did play after a 24/96 track. Once 24/192 tracks won't play, that's it, they won't ever play again until after a full reboot. It seems once the card "locks up" for 24/192, that's it until a reboot. On the theory that it could be a timing issue I changed the mmap parameter from 1 to 0 on the basis that taking mmap out might slow things down a bit.
