Your requests are interesting for a couple of reasons:
1) From my personal experience, you can use any RPi you want. So I don't
have any recommendation. I used a RPi1B with 256MB memory for my LMS
hardware for years!
2) I don't use a NAS or mount network shares so I haven't documented it.
There is a few instructions for SAMBA in the 'Add a USB hard drive and

How-to.
So your requests have highlighted that the documentation will have a
bias towards the limited topics I know and use. :D
