I went back and checked the 'static ip' settings and I hadn't set the eth0 to static. So I set both the eth0 and the Wlan to static and addressed them.
The last message I get in the console before the timeout is (in red) that it times out when trying to get the date. So is there a way to set the timeout period on NPT? I must be the only nut in the world that doesn't want his clock set. LOL Still trying to figure this out.
