To answer my own question. If the squeezelite instance is connected to LMS running on the *same RPi,* then Settings > Advanced > gives a menu option to "*Rescan Music Library*" this works no problem. If the squeezelite instance is connected to another instance of LMS then there is *no menu option* to "Rescan Music Library" at Settings > Advanced.
