Yay, got that. In situ update was super smooth, thanks.
Installed Triggerhappy and created the config file in the home
directory. (of course forgot to do PCP BU twice...)
Added the following line to the startup commands under tweaks to start
the daemon:

thd --daemon --triggers media.conf --normalize /dev/input/event1
--------------------
In principle it works. :-) But still need to tweak it to slow down the
key presses for changing the volume.
