That is typically the fault of the dac not muting itself when changing sampling rates. There is nothing in squeezelite/lms that can do that for the DAC. You can validate this, by forcing squeezelite to resample everything going to the DAC, such that the DAC never sees a sample rate change. piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM.
