I have searched the forums but couldn't find any reference to the
Realtek RTL8821CU so I'm seeking any assistance or pointers...

I'm running PiCore Player 7.0.0 on a Raspberry Pi 2B and want to add a
Realtek RTL8821CU usb wifi adaptor. It is 802.11ac.

I have activated Wifi on the "Wifi settings" tab and entered all my
details correctly however still no sign of life (yes, I rebooted. ;) ).
When I run the piCore Player wifi diagnostics I receive the following
messages:

In the "dmesg:" section I can see

[    3.712807] usb 1-1.2: New USB device found, idVendor=0bda,
idProduct=c811, bcdDevice= 2.00
[    3.712828] usb 1-1.2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2,
SerialNumber=3
[    3.712845] usb 1-1.2: Product: 802.11ac NIC
[    3.712861] usb 1-1.2: Manufacturer: Realtek
[    3.712877] usb 1-1.2: SerialNumber: 123456

/etc/sysconfig/tcedir/onboot.lst:

pcp.tcz
pcp-7.0.0-www.tcz
pcp-jivelite_default-wav35skin.tcz
ntfs-3g.tcz
firmware-atheros.tcz
firmware-brcmwifi.tcz
firmware-ralinkwifi.tcz
firmware-rtlwifi.tcz
firmware-rpi-wifi.tcz
wireless_tools.tcz
wpa_supplicant.tcz

but in the "Available wifi networks" section I get:

Scanning......

No wifi devices found!

Possible error:

1. USB wifi adapter missing - insert adapter and [Reboot].
2. Wifi firmware and/or drivers missing - [Reboot] required.

I have unplugged and replugged the usb adaptor multiple times and
rebooted multiple times.

I'm not sure what to try next.
