I can't give you a definite answer but... here's a guess. I believe in pCP7 there was a problem getting the card name (from USB DAC) which caused errors restoring asound.state. The USB restart scripts worked around this. Maybe because we fixed a few ALSA things in pCP8.0.0 it broke something.
