I think this is probably just the mmap setting. For many years mmap was
set to 1 by default. This worked.

Now, HMDI and Heaphones require mmap to be 0 in some cases.

My guess is, even though we fixed the default mmap settings in pCP8.0.0
the wrong value was stored in your pcp.cfg file and not updated, until
you did the fiddle or twiddle. :)
