The FLAC content will use a lot more bandwidth on your home network than the BBC streams. A well running WiFi network should not have a problem ... but perhaps your PiZero has a poor connection.
I assume that your Pi4 systems are running with an Ethernet connection to your network - if not then that would increase your WiFi traffic. How about if you play a FLAC Internet radio source - for example one of the Naim Radio flac streams?
