Thanks for reply, very informative.

The issue here in the UK is that unfortunately every app removes the
ability to listen to any radio feed outside the UK as it matures: this
is true for Tunein, myTuner, and just last week the wonderful
RadioGarden, and has successively ruined every app I've ever used in the
UK. It's a farcical situation, and I haven't got the heart to look into
it, but some legislation here clearly mandates us British people must
only listen to British radio. Ridiculous, but I'll spare my breath!

So as it stands any companion app that LMS uses will also block any
station outside the UK, or if it doesn't now, it will tomorrow.

Radio-Browser on the other hand is of course only a directory of URLs so
breaks no regulations one assumes, and the streams are fully accessible.
My recollection of trying it some time ago was similar to yours but it's
vastly improved now: I've today compiled a list of about 200 very
eclectic stations from it and not one is problematic. They poll URLs at
least once a day to check them and updates now seem very quick. It's
also hugely comprehensive and beats any of the commercial apps for
stations by far. Aside from, the problems UK listeners face, it would
seem to me to be a vastly superior repository for PiCorePlayer radio
rather than the competing and incomplete commercial apps.

Which of course leaves the problem that no one has developed a way to
use it in LMS, as you say.
