piCorePlayer typically has 2 IR methods for controlling a player. 1. via squeezelite 2. via jivelite I think what you need a third IR method to control the command line interface. For this you need, LIRC loaded and use irexec. Hopefully people that have done this will offer help. NOTE: I have seen posts of people doing this (I think) but I have never had any success.
