Hello Listers, I'm trying to install OSX version 10.1 on my Umax S900
and have failed over and over. I can't seem to figure what I'm doing
wrong. I'll try to give as much detail as I can...I am presently
running OS9.1, XLR8 G3 400MHZ (overclocked to 450), I have ram slots
filled w/128mb sticks (1gig) interleaved . 3 IDE drives WD 20 gig 5
partitions & 1 IBM 20 gig 5 partitions add'l WD 2gig Slaved and not
partitioned... all drives are formatted HFS Extended (Used either
Intech Speedtools or Apple Setup Utility) . I have 4 Video cards on
hand, a twin turbo (8), Ultimate REZ, Formac Pro 3, ATI Radeon Mac
Edition.

PCI Slots: During installs...
1. Video Card (Twin Turbo or ATI)
2. Sonnet Tempo ATA 66
3. Adaptec USB Card ...Slots 4, 5, 6 empty.

I have attempted to install from version 10.0.3 my wifes IBook disc
and I recently sprung for a 10.1 disk from Apple which is where I'm
at now, Xpostfacto. Recent attempts have been IDE those 3.8 gig
partitions or with the 2 gig "Slave" as target I mentioned, no
success, but I can "Boot back to 9.1 with no problem, sometimes
pressing CUDA, sometimes not having to. With early attempts I was
using an External Quantum/APS SCSI drive 3 gig as the target drive.
External port, I have removed ram to de-interleave, nothing... all
attempts Happy face, then a "Split" Folder and the endless spinning
wheel in the upper left corner of my display (Monitors used a Apple
12", Sony 15" and a Samsung 17") I have just recently subscribed to
this list, a month or so from Supermacs and have read most of the
discussion from this group from that point forward. More
notes...pulled E100 "Jackhammer" card early on to run IDE only
internally. Do I need an internal SCSI drive for install? and I'm not
sure about "correct" Monitor setup? I think all drivers are up to
date. Can anyone help me... My machine has been running very well, a
Kylink I purchased a year ago. I had some RAM issues several months
ago, but they have been resolved successfully. Thanks in advance.
Phillip
