I am not sure. How did you format the Maxtor? I am using a 8500. I
installed from my 1GB SCSI drive by using Apple System Restore to copy the
install disk to the hard drive and then using XPostFacto to copy over the
extra unsupported files. I will have to re-read the XPostFacto
instructions to see if I am forgetting something I did. You may try using
Apple System Restore under 9.1 to copy your good OSX SCSI install over to a
partition on the Maxtor.
I got the IDE CD-RW to work. It seems to take longer for the computer to
boot. I don't know if it is because I took the SCSI CD out.
