Yeah, I remember asking that question a while back. I'm really glad that someone is making an effort to write a driver for the floppy drive.
It seems strange that Apple would "support" the Beige g3 series but not write a driver for the 3.5" drive. Seems strange that they would have drivers for everything else including many more complex devices but selectively leave out support for this seemingly simple device. It's probably a scheme to eradicate those "obsolete" floppies. I don't use many floppies myself, but they should include them anyway for complete support of said machines. But they've not given they're complete support fot the beige g3 in many other situations as well and neither has third party developers like ATI. I tried the driver and it works with the HFS formatted floppy that I tried on my S900. It was a tad slow but I'm not complaining it's only beta. Let's hope they continue development. I am interested in what other unsupported machines that this works on. -Charles Baker If I remember correctly, a few months back someone was asking about a driver for the floppy under X. Well someone has come up with one. It can be found at: http://www.darwin-development.org/floppy/ I tried it and it seems to work fine once it finally mounts the floppy. It took about 2 minutes for the floppy to appear in the Finder for me. Did it take this long for anyone else?
