It may be an incompatibility with your CD-ROM drive. The OSX CD tends to be rather picky about the drive. Not all drives will boot OS9/OSX. To confuse people even more, some will boot OS9 but not OSX. Short of getting a really good friend to loan you drive to test, I'm not sure of a way around this. Anyone else want to wager a guess?
