I don't think there is way around this, short of changing your video card to 
a supported card.   You might try putting your card into a different slot, 
preferrably slot 1 or 2.

I had this same problem with 10.0 way back when.  I had to change video 
cards.   I was using a ix3D Ultimate rez card (OEM version) with 8 megs ram. 
   I switched to a Twin Turbo 128 card with 4 megs ram and the problem went 
away.

The Apple version of the Ultimate Rez card also works.   I have one now.  
Either version (OEM or Apple) of the Twin Turbo card works.

OS X 10.1 fixes this, BTW.
