>I was totally freaking out last Friday when I was stuck in that loop >of dark screen, one startup chime on a keyboard induced restart, and >no ability to get to anything PERIOD, and not even the ability to zap >the PRAM. I don't know if the following will work for an X related NVRAM corruption, but here's another thing you can try. When the CUDA button and the zap PRAM procedure are not working power on your computer and *before it finishes making the chime sound* hold down the zap-PRAM combo. There's a window of opportunity there time-wise where the zap-PRAM key combo works a little differently and may recover you from things that a normal-later zap-PRAM will not. The S900 list has experience with this because of a weird problem with the Powerlogix E100 Enabler which plays with the NVRAM to get the E100 card working. If anyone finds that this works for an X related NVRAM corruption please let the list know. On the one hand, we don't know that it will work. On the other hand, it's easy to try and could save opening the case and pulling the battery, etc. Jeff Walther -- Unsupported OS X is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Unsupported OS X list info <http://lowendmac.com/lists/unsupported.html> Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive <http://www.mail-archive.com/unsupportedosx%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
