The problem was attributed to an issue with the G4 but I'm not clear
on whether it was an errata or a valid difference in how the G4
operates.

The next question is whether that errata or issue exists or does not
exist in the later 7455.

Reports from early adopters are that Sonnet's card does not have the
six slot problem. Sonnet claims they solved it, but their language
was a little vague. So I'm still not convinced that they invented a
hardware solution. It may simply be that they took advantage of the
lack of the problem with the 7455.

So two possibilities:

1) Problem still exists in 7455 but Sonnet invented a solution.
2) Problem was eliminated by Motorola and Sonnet (and us) get the
benefit by using the 7455 on the CPU card.

The XLR8 SSE was giving folks a lot of problems with interleaved RAM.
I would avoid the SSE and go with the Sonnet card if you can afford
the extra cost. I think the SSE either wasn't quite ready for
prime-time or there was a manufacturing issue, but either way it
doesn't seem quite right, at least with PTPs.

Mike did a test/review of the SSE with dual G4s installed and it
worked fine for him with 512M of interleaved RAM (eight 64 MB DIMMs).
But several other folks who have tried it had big time problems.
