What it is is the equivalent of ODBC Administrator on Windows systems, where you define and modify data sources. (in fact, it looks *identical* to the Windows ODBC administrator app!) It is pretty much useless as shipped because NO ODBC drivers ship with it, alas. OpenLink sells ODBC drivers for various database platforms (like Oracle, Sybase and DB2) for Macs, though they're rather expensive. Minimum platform order is $450, which would be for 5 licenses. I believe ODBC drivers for Excel ship with Office. I'd have to look at the various vendor sites to see if they offer ODBC drivers, too. I think ODBC drivers for open source databases like MySQL and Postgres exist, too, but I'm not sure. I know Oracle does NOT have an ODBC driver, though they do offer a JDBC driver (Java database connectivity) for OSX. I don't know it it's managed through this program or not...I've yet to download it and install it. (Among other hats, I am an Oracle DBA in real life...) From a regular user standpoint, though, this is not very useful right now. From an enterprise computing standpoint, this is also useless, since 90% of all enterprise sites are run by Windrone fascist IT admins who don't allow Macs to sully their pristine networks anyway. (They'd MUCH rather run around installing the 3,456th Windows security patch this month, nuke and re-install yet another system trashed by viruses, and generally bring down the productivity level of American business anyway.)
