gee - I have an 8500 connected to a pair of Seagates [elites - 2.7 gigs - full height - scsi fast] that are running as a striped array using the raid software in OS X 10.2.2. Perhaps you mean to say that it wont boot from this configuration but for storage purposes I have had no problems with it at all. Used XPF in setting it up and booting.
