Hello

I've got a ATI Rage 128 card in a PCI slot and it's been working like a
champ in X now for quite a while. My only problem is the recognized
monitor resolutions. Back in 9.X I was able to configure my card to
drive my monitor at 1152 x 1024 or 1152 x 8XX and this was at 75hz. Now
in X I can't select either of these. I have to choose either 1024 x 768
at 75hz or 1280 x 1024 at 60hz. The first feels cramped and the second
causes a bit of a flicker since my other monitor is humming along at 75
hz. I've got "show Recommended" turned OFF in the Display Panel of the
System Prefs and that 1152 still isn't listed. It is available, however
when I boot the machine with the monitor turned off. And then
subsequently turn on the monitor. It is then recognized as something
other than a VGA monitor since the card wasn't able to probe the
monitor. Upon reboot, if the monitor is left on, the card will set the
resoultion to 1024 x 768 again. Short of locating and cutting off the
monitor's sense pins, is there anyway of getting back my 1152
resolution? I've tried locating the .conf file or a
com.apple.whatever.displays and editing the file using emacs but can't
seem to find the right file to produce the desired results. Any insite
is appreciated.

Joel
