Jake -- If you have enabled Windows network sharing, it automatically punches a hole in the firewall, so even if you have the built in firewall enabled (under the Network tab of System Preferences), the sharing will function. The problem you're having is that your user account is not set to allow you to log in from windows. You need to go into the Accounts tab under System Preferences. Edit the account that you want to log in with, and (after authenticating it by typing in the password) you'll be able to click on the tab labeled "allow users to log in from windows" Save it, and you should be all set.
